Mylar Tape
COATEX offers Mylar® film tape crafted from DuPont Mylar® Type A polyester film combined with a high-temperature acrylic adhesive. This polyester tape inherits the exceptional performance features of Mylar® film, showcasing balanced tensile properties, remarkable resistance to moisture and most chemicals, and a temperature tolerance ranging from -100°F to 300ºF.
Mylar® tape with pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive is recommended for applications necessitating strong initial tack and robust adhesion to low surface energy substrates such as oily metals or certain plastics. Moreover, Mylar® tape with silicone adhesive can be customized for applications requiring a broader adhesive temperature range and clean release removal.
The incorporation of Mylar® film with adhesive opens up avenues to leverage Mylar® thermoplastic attributes in new product developments and enhance existing applications. The utilization of a pressure-sensitive adhesive system reduces the reliance on mechanical fastening, making Mylar® tape suitable for use in confined enclosure spaces or on substrates challenging to drill.
COATEX has the capability to produce Mylar® Tape in thicknesses ranging from .002” to .014”. With in-house converting capabilities, we can manufacture slit-to-width rolls, sheets, or custom die-cut parts. Mylar® adhesive lamination can be applied on one or both sides of the film, offering versatility in meeting specific application requirements.
